I read the interview in the Guaridan and it moved me. On two counts: as a person living in Doncaster and someone who lost a dear one due to cancer in the last 15 months are so. The wound is still raw. Believe me I have gone through all emotions you describe.Your own anguish at the point of hearing the diagnosis of cancer made me remember that day when I heard the confirmation from her specialist, a colleague of mine. Yes, I am a consultant myself and it doesn't in any way lessen the pain. Yes, two months they gave your mum. Same to my daughter's mum! Just married and gone to the antipodes and had to return the first day she was to start her work there! Like you she too is determined to achieve what she has set out to do in medicine, a doctor herself, too, like her mum.But your own determination and goals are laudable. I hope you go on to achieve it. Yes, I agree, people don't know what to say when they meet you after your loss, even my medical colleagues struggle. It needs a lot of courage to talk to one just had such loss, in your case double loss. People should be trained; should have empathy, which only life can teach you, whoever you are, medic or lay person. I can tell you one thing: even I didn't think it will ease when I was shedding buckets of tears having lost life's partner of 34 years. The pain never goes away, you take expect to. But you can think and act, after a year or so. Yes, a long time. First Christmas, anniversaries, birthdays are all painful. It takes courage even to talk to someone like this and give interview. It makes me feel a bit lighter writing this to you just like that interview might have done to you.
I am not a sports person. By chance I read the interview and as a fellow human being, a fellow sufferer, I thought of writing on the spur of the moment. If this helps you I am pleased. I would like to remain anonymous, because of who and where I am.

Love these quotes as I have my self a website with quotes about life. Thought it would be wise to share my favorite quote: "It's the choices that make us who we are, and we can always choose to do what's right." - Peter Parker
